Device and site firmware version considerations

IPerCom systems have a set firmware version. The firmware version of all devices on a system must match.  It is essential that all devices and/or applications (IPerCom Installer Tools and Switchboard) are aligned to the same IPerCom version, otherwise proper system operation is not guaranteed.

For new system we can update the firmware in-house to the latest version.  Note that this may increase the dispatch time.

The version number will look something like '3.1.0' for example.  Before new devices can be added to a site the firmware may need to be updated before being added to the site configuration.

Constantly updating the firmware of a system and insuring all devices have the latest firmware, is not required.  Urmet UK systems are designed to function without regular updates after the system has been commissioned.

We recommend that all new systems have the latest firmware.  However existing systems only need to be upgraded if:

  • New functionality is required for the system, which would require a significant change to the system config.

  • There is an issue with the existing system that requires technical support.  In some cases the system may need to be upgraded before technical support can be provided.

The following devices do not require an upgrade: Relay Actuators, Key Readers, Lift Interface, iPassan Controller, IPerTalk Server and RTSP Cameras.  However all other devices will require an upgrade.
