Recommended IPerCom System Setup Process

  1. Before setting up a system make sure you have read the IPerCom Installation and Configuration Requirements document. This can be found here.
  2. Complete the Urmet online training courses before setting up a system. These courses include demonstration videos on system setup and configuration. You can sign up here. Once the courses have been completed you can go back through the content for reference at anytime.
  3. Download the main IPerCom manual before setting up a system. This is the primary resource needed to setup an IPerCom system. You may need to reference this document when setting up and configuring your system.
  4. Before going to site and setting up a system make sure you are aware of:
    1. The structure (topology) of the building and system.
    2. The devices that will need to be installed, and their location in the building and in the system topology. This includes the addresses of each apartment and what entrance panels can reach them. More details can be found here.
    3. The sites network and requirements. Ensure that the network administrator has provided you appropriate details so that you can connect and configure the IPerCom system. More details can be found here.
  5. Before going to site and setting up a system have an appropriate Windows PC ready and download the IPerCom Installer Tool. PC requirements can be found here. The IPerCom Installer Tool can be found here. Once the IPerCom Installer Tool has been launched you will need to register or log into an Urmet Cloud account.
  6. Before going to site and setting up a system, check the current firmware version of all devices. If the devices are not at the latest firmware they will need to be upgraded. We recommend upgrading devices off site on an unmanaged LAN. More details can be found here.
  7. The next step is to install the devices in the appropriate location, while also filling out a commissioning sheet. The commissioning sheet allows you to record the MAC address, location and other details about the installed devices. This information is required when configuring the system using the IPerCom Installer Tool. More details about the commissioning sheets can be found here.  Installation details can be found on the product pages here.
  8. With all devices physically installed and connected to the network, the next step is to connect a PC to the same network and use the IPerCom Installer Tool software to create a new project and configure the devices. More details on configuration can be found in the online training and the IPerCom Manual.
  9. Once the site configuration has been created, use the IPerCom Installer Tool to apply the configuration to the devices. This may take a few minutes and the devices may reboot. Once complete the site should be successfully configured.
  10. Next testing the system to ensure that all devices have been configured correctly. Two engineers may be needed onsite to test the system. One to make a call from the entrance panel, and another to answer the call from the apartment monitor.

Note: Some devices and features like IPerCloud may require additional steps. These are detailed in the online training courses and the IPerCom manual.
